    A permanent gastric reduction that is performed from the inside out

    The OverStitchTM Next technology is applied “from the inside out”, i.e., through the mouth and esophagus inside the stomach. This means it works completely without surgical operation. This is made possible with the help of a special system patented by the American company Apollo, where special threads are stably sutured with the stomach’s inner wall. At the end of treatment, there is a significant gastric reduction through reduction of stomach volume. At Weight Doctors, this can amount to up to 75% of the original stomach volume.     The OverStitchTM Next technology is an innovative medical technology that we use in the application of our Weight Doctors SLEEVE® especially in patients with nickel allergies. But also for patients who prefer this technology to the pose® 3.0 Double Helix technology for their Endo-Sleeve, the use of OverStitchTM Next technology is available within our Weight Doctors SLEEVE® procedures.

    Behind OverStitchTM Next are very special instruments patented by the American manufacturer Boston Scientific, with the help of which we can reduce the stomach gently and effectively. And in such a way that no external cuts are necessary and scars on the abdomen remain behind.

    The Weight Doctors SLEEVE® based on OverStitchTM Next technology is performed as part of a gastroenterological gastroscopy. Under general anesthesia, the special instruments are introduced into the stomach through the mouth and esophagus. Then the actual procedure begins by tensioning the special threads to create a vertical and horizontal gathering effect. The procedure usually takes 60-75 minutes, sometimes also 1.5 hours. Weight Doctors generally keep patients who choose a Weight Doctors SLEEVE® based on OverStitchTM Next technology for 1 night inpatient for monitoring. After 3-4 days, our patients are usually fully recovered and can resume their normal activities.

    For the gastric reduction to really take effect, patients must go through a special nutrition program in the first 6-8 weeks so that healing can safely reach completion and the threads anchored in the stomach can stabilize.

    The OverStitchTM Next technology is generally very well tolerated and is particularly characterized by the fact that our patients do not react allergically to the material used. Of course, this is a medical procedure that involves certain risks. Temporary side effects and adverse reactions in the first days, sometimes weeks, are normal until the body has recovered from this procedure.

    Complications can occur but are rare and can then in most cases be treated conservatively, i.e., without further surgical intervention or operation. Bleeding from the suture site in the stomach, hematomas or injuries to the stomach or esophagus can occur, but in the hands of an experienced specialist physician, these are extremely rare complications.

Nevertheless, the Weight Doctors SLEEVE® in connection with OverStitchTM Next technology is a medical procedure that can only be performed after specialist medical assessment.     The OverStitchTM Next technology is the scientifically best studied technology among endoscopic technologies for gastric reduction. Today’s medical understanding is based on experience from over 100,000 successfully performed procedures. The OverStitchTM Next technology is used in almost all leading industrialized countries in the world.

    In comparison to the pose® 3.0 Double Helix technology, the effectiveness is similar, possibly even slightly better: after 6 to 7 months, most patients lose about half of their excess weight.
