What is obesity?

Obesity is the term used for severe excess weight or corpulence that can harm health. The World Health Organization (WHO) divides obesity into three degrees of severity on the basis of the body mass index (BMI). More on degrees, symptoms and treatment under What is obesity?

What strain does excess weight place on the body?

If pathological corpulence remains untreated in the long term, it places strain on the whole body and increases the risk of sometimes serious secondary illnesses. Tap on an area to see which complaints and illnesses can occur there.
