Weight Doctors BARIATRICS®
For those who have bigger goals in mind and require a further stomach restriction, our Weight Doctors BARIATRICS® programme is also available. Based on minimally-invasive keyhole surgery, we offer the gastric sleeve, the least invasive of the bariatric surgical procedures, and the gastric bypass for maximum restriction.
These procedures use advanced laparoscopic technology to perform a laparoscopy. This involves making a few small incisions from the outside of the abdomen through which the finest surgical instruments are inserted. Under visual control, the surgeon can then perform the actual creation of a tubular stomach or gastric bypass: The length of the stomach is reduced vertically from top to bottom.
In contrast to the endoscopic procedures performed by the Weight Doctors, the stomach is modified from the outside, i.e. in the abdominal cavity. What remains is a narrow, tubular stomach with a volume of only 150-200ml, which is about 85% less than the original stomach volume. The separated larger part of the stomach is safely removed from the body. The sleeve gastrectomy takes about 60-90 minutes. Gastric bypass surgery at Weight Doctors involves creating an even smaller stomach pouch. The small intestine is also modified to make digestion more difficult.
